Vodafone Sure Signal - Vigor 2850n was created by justins
Dear All,

Firstly, sorry if this has been raised before but I am new to this forum.

I recently purchased a Vigor 2850n which I have upgraded to the latest firmware. I am running on Plusnet DSL around 5 megs. I am delighted with the router but have been unable to get my Vodafone Sure Signal working. I can't get the router to DHCP the Femto so it remains unseen. I have tried all of the ideas on the 'Notsosuresignal' site with regard to srv dhcp add 192.168.200.1 MAC address voda which doesnt seem to work with the firmware on this router. I have opened ports 50, 500 123 & 4500 all to no avail. I guess my first challenge is to get the router to assign an IP address to the Femto or assign one manually. Does anyone have any ideas on how to do this including the srv language needed?

I would be much appreciated.

Kind regards

Justin

Strange... The VSS can be a pain to get going but it should be picking up an IP address.

Are other network devices showing up in the DHCP table on the router?

Is the VSS plugged directly into the router?

Are the network port lights coming on (on both the VSS and the router)?

Are you using NAT? Do you have any routed IP addresses?

Fwiw, my VSS picked up an IP address automatically and immediately without any problems and no port forwarding was required (on my 2830n). The VSS does take hours to 'initialise' or whatever and sits there with blinking lights for ages before it'll start handling your Vodafone calls.

Xela,

Yes I have 3 other devices hard and several other soft all receiving IP addresses via DHCP. The lights are on but not the yellow on the VSS. I have looked up the IP addresses list on the IP table all okay but no VSS. I have no idea why the VSS isn't being recognised? I have opened all the ports etc and taken other devices off to allow the VSS solo IP access but nothing? Any ideas?

Kind regards

Justin

The yellow network LED is on for me but I don't know what it means.

Has your VSS ever worked? Could it be faulty?

Yes, it worked perfectly with my previous Linksys 320n but sadly no joy on the 2850n. I have tried to manually assign and IP address without success. I plugged my old router in and hey presto it worked again. Its the 2850n that's the issue.

I'm out of ideas then I'm afraid. My VSS 'just worked' on my 2830 and had no problems picking up an IP address via DHCP.
