2820 / 2850 Config Compatibility? was created by dilbert2k
Is it possible to restore a config backup from my now dead 2820Vn to a new 2850Vn?

Thanks

I'd be surprised if doing that was anything other than a complete disaster. Settings backups don't even work on different versions of firmware on the same router, let alone across series. Backups are binary and there is almost no manually extractable info. Unless someone has better info on this.

I always thought a neutral config backup would have been a useful function.

End of page:

Please be advised not to restore the config file back up from former firmware version. While firmware version is upgraded, please configure Vigor Router's settings again manually.

So as previous mentioned i will say as well NO

Thanks for the replies. I expected that answer but thought I would ask just in case I could save some time.

Thanks
