Vigor2830 - QoS for Skype ???? was created by adminx
Anyone have any idea how I can implement some sort of QoS to preserve bandwidth for Skype traffic using a Vigor2830 ?

My 2830n routers are erratic to begin with, but three members of staff use Skype for international PC to PC calls and their sessions regularly drop midway.

Traffic passthrough in general does not necessarily stop at the same time as Skype, and bandwidth usage does not correlate to the dropped sessions either.

On other manufacturers routers there is often a selectable Skype protocol which allows a simple 'give Skype greater/lower priority' option.

I can't see anything obvious on the 2830n to achieve this and Skype's weird use of a range of ports means it isn't a straight forward set of rules.

Has anyone successfully achieved Skype traffic priority and, if so, how ?

Thanks in advance.

I believe Skype still tags their packets as EF. Try setting up a QoS rule to prioritise EF Class traffic. That's what I do, appears to work fine.
