Hi all,

I'm trying to take advantage of being able to send syslog via smtp using google apps' smtp.gmail.com.

I've tried both ports suggested and used a number of email details that I know work correctly but I cannot get the emails out of the router correctly.

Occasionally I have managed to get it to complain saying:

Vigor: Email send Failed.

Any help would be appreciated.

you need to specify the smtp sever by ip address not hostname.

I have also tried this.

I contacted draytek phone support who said that gmail servers are not supported because they only support insecure smtp.

Do you have emails being sent from your router via the following


bash-3.2$ ping smtp.gmail.com
PING gmail-smtp-msa.l.google.com (173.194.67.108): 56 data bytes

Support just confirmed that the 2701n cannot support encrypted smtp. Mails from it will be rejected by gmail servers because they are expecting encrypted emails.
