Vigor 2850 Vn Setup was created by roli4101
Hi anyone....

Just bought a new Vigor 2850Vn Router to go with my BT Infinity setup.

I JUST CANT GET THE ROUTER TO HOOK UP...

Ive done absolutely everything that was suggested in anoher thread , but it just wont let me into any web site.

I do have a fixed IP address so I put that in the setup screen

In the Online Status screen it does (eventually after 3 minutes) show the correct ip address (but not the same Gateway/Primary or Secondary DNS as the BT router)

I cant understand why BT sell such a bad piece of kit that wont let you setup port forwarding, VPN even when they know its a business line...Poor if you ask me.

Hi Roland- welcome to the Forum.
Let's start by establishing exactly what your setup is.
Is the Draytek 2850vn being used instead of the supplied BT modem and router, or together with the original modem- or some other way?
Your post suggests you have a business line, with a fixed IP. Have a look at this - http://business.forums.bt.com/t5/Broadband-and-internet/BT-Fibre-Infinity-Guide-to-using-your-own-router/td-p/25221

From reading the posts, I dont need to use the Modem supplied by BT. So on their recommendation, I bought a Vigor 2850Vn.
Ive tried without the modem, which partly worked but couldnt get onto tghe web I havnt tried it with the modem as I dont know what cat 5 plug to use coming out of the BT Modem into my router (Draytek's)
Its really maddening.....

Ok.
I assume the modem supplied is either the Huawei HG612 or the ECI equivalent. You would connect the LAN 1 from the modem into the WAN1 port of the Draytek, then configure it as stated in the user manual when using WAN1 port for ADSL/VDSL.
It is reasonably straightforward to use the internal modem of the 2850- just as I have done this week on my domestic Infinity account- instead of the BT modem. The basic setup is much the same as the 2750 here- http://www.draytek.co.uk/support/kb/kb_vigor_v2750_setup.html
Let us know how you get on.
