Hi

I want to allocate one of my public ip addresses to a virtual machine.
So that the ip address of the host is the actual public ip address,
not a private NAT address.

The options under NAT >> DMZ Host Setup, do not achive what i want.
I have a free BT ADSL router at another site and this has this option.

If i set a public ip address in the vitual machine,
is there anthing that could be done with routing to get it to work?

I had incorrectly configured the WAN. :oops:
Therefore I was missing a different set options under WAN 1
it was appearing as WAN 2, I presume normally does.

NAT >> DMZ Host Setup
"None/Private IP/Active True IP"
Then it's possible to specify...
MAC Address of the True IP DMZ Host

I've now realised that there is still no option to specify the second public ip address. I'm going to bed.

So i don't think i misconfigured the WAN after all.
When i enter the settings the IP Address and Subnet Mask
in the location below they do not remain following a reboot. :?

Are there any ways of using multiple true DMZ hosts with the 2830 router :?:

I don't remember it being a cheap consumer unit, costing nearly £190. Or do i need to change the router?

Hi Will, how many Public IP addresses do you have?

It sounds like you may need to configure the IPs in the: LAN >> General Setup >> IP Routed subnet option details page.
So you can set the router IP in there and then assign a Public IP address on to your VM.

Just 2 hosts (255.255.255.252), including the router.

If i wanted more that one dmz host,
I am not sure how control each IP is give to specific MAC Address?
So a default DMZ host (also serving NAT) plus an additional host.

If you wanted additional DMZ NAT hosts I think you would have to add the IP as a WAN IP Alias address under WAN1 details page, and then tick the Join to NAT pool box.
Not sure if the router supports Multi NAT and IP routed at the same time though, I have /29 so I will try and test it later.
