Dear All,
Recently, I installed a 3200 router with 3 V120 v2 modems using ADSL. Inititially it seemed to work, however we realised that download speed was very slow. In the order of 150K. If we connected the ADSL to another router, or the modem direct to a PC then we could get 8Mbps no problem. Also, the link between router and modem would drop out at the modem link such that the modem LAN connection was dead. If I connected to a PC I could not access the modem nor ping it. However, the modem was not locked as if I disconnected the DSL line the light would flash, if I plugged the line in it would eventually go steady. I am still waiting to hear from Draytek. I was wondering whether anyone else had encountered this issue, or anything similar?
I am thinking of using netgear DGN1000 routers with a public IP subnet. Does anyone have any other ideas to get around this?

We have been using both this router and modem for over a year without any issues.

are you using a BT Wholesale product or LLU?

It could be something going wrong with the gigabit WAN ports and the 100mb ports of the 120s, try setting the WAN - General Setup - WAN x settings to use a physical mode of 100MB full duplex rather than autonegotiate? Also try different cables, the ones supplied are 4wire rather than 8 and that could be affecting things.

Hi Voodle and IT-Communications,
Thank you for coming back to me. We have done that and tried various duplex settings such as 100M full duplex and 10m full duplex. On the v120 guide I read that you should not use the display name for each wan (in the FAQ). Is that correct? This connects to a French ADSL service in France. Is is possible that the router is faulty? Does it definitely support v120 modems?

Kind regards
Richard

The V120 modem will work fine with the 3200 router, make sure the VPI & VCI values are set correct on the modem for the ADSL provider, you might want to check with them to confirm the settings, also i assume you left the adsl mode to be multimode? if not try setting it to this and see if that helps.
