Mail Alert settings? was created by screamingpict
Hi,

I've been struggling with Mail Alert settings.

I can't seem to get it to work at all. I suspect that the problem is that Draytek do not support SSL/TLS connections to SMTP servers and only support the 'Login' authentication method.

Does anyone have a good workaround for this? Should I try to find a lightweight SMTP server that doesn't require authentication for local connections?

In the grand tradition of answering one's own posts on these forums...

I found an SMTP server that does not require (indeed does not support) SSL/TLS

So... if anyone's trying to get their Draytek to send them email, use O2's server.

You only need to have an account with them- but that doesn't mean paying them money- I'm pretty sure you can just register. I have an old account from when I used to have an O2 mobile.

SMTP Server: mail.o2.co.uk
SMTP Port: 25

User Name: account_name@o2.co.uk (i.e. the whole email address, not just the account name)
Password: account password

HTH. HAND. etc.
