2960 Setup issues was created by cbiz316
Hi guys

i have recently invested in a Vigor 2960 but am having major problems being able to connect to the internet through it.

the setup is as follows

1 x bt internet connection that is setup using a Technicolor TG582n which is connected and working fine on the ip address 192.168.1.254 subnet 255.255.255.0 with dhcp turned on, if you bypass the 2960 it is working fine

i have connected this to the wan 1 socket and set in the 2960s admin panel for wan1 to connect using a dhcp connection and on the status page it shows as connected

if i then connect to it using my workstation it will not connect to the internet ?? also if i use the ping diagnostics on the 2960 it shows it cant find the internet

losing my mind with this as i had no issues with the same setup on my vigor 2830

any help would be greatly appreciated :)

this may be because it doesn't have a default route configured, if not, go to WAN - default route and select WAN1 then check whether it works :) it caught me out earlier too

what IP is the 2960 on? If it's on the same IP range i.e. 192.168.1.x as the technicolor router, that might be why it's not working, try putting the ADSL router or the 2960 on a different subnet - it might have worked on a 2830 but the routers have very different firmware and generally I don't expect having a local subnet and a WAN subnet both on the same range to work, it's best to have them be separate / different.

Hi guys

as per the above post and the email support sent i can confirm its because they were both on the same subnet

the adsl router is now set on 192.168.2.254 and the 2960 is on 192.168.1.1 and now all is working

thanks for all the help with this was driving me mad :)
