It is probably something I am doing wrong so help would be appreciated.

The Draytek (main broadband connection) is working fine. It is on 10.0.0.254

I have added a Netgear DG834 (had it in the cupboard) to use as fail over. This is on 192.168.0.1 .This is connected to the WAN2 port.

The DG834 has DHCP enabled.

The Draytek WAN2 is;

PPPoE Disbled

PPTP/L2TP Disabed

Static or Dynamic Enabled
Enable PING to keep alive NOT selected
WAN connection detection is set to ARP Detect
MTU is set to 1442
Obtain an IP address automatically IS selected
No router name or domain name
DNS servers are set for the backup ISP (BT)
Default MAC address

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

HI have you gone at router UI >> WAN >> General access .. WAN 2 & enable YES / active mode Always On ??
If yes and still not connects try with PPPOE instead of static or dynamic IP

Have now tried the "Always On" option and still nothing. PPPoE also doesn't work (with and without usernames and passwords).

The netgear if you can set it at bridge mode ( disable DHCP, wi-fi etc from the netgear) and try PPPOE at draytek with password and user name ... so just let for the 2820 to do all the rest
WAN >> General access, should always be enable and always on for both connections or at least the wan port you want to use
