I always assumed I was switched on with this stuff until I obtained a 2750.

I have configured my dydns account correctly as I can go from a machine on another internet using my web address straight into the management console of the 2750 (of course using port 80), this was an easy thing to setup and I like the way dyndns and the draytek talk to each other. Now to my problem....

I have a CCTV DVR in my house on 192.a.y.x on port NNNN. in the NAT setup on the 2750 I put in an entry :

Name - CCTV
Protocol TCP+UDP
Start Port - NNNN
end port - blank
local host - 192.a.y.x
local port - blank

Clicked ok, even rebooted the 2750 .. but nothing.

I want to be able to use my web address from the outside world to come in and go straight to the DVR on the port NNNN but it just does not work when I enter www.mywebaddress.com:NNNN , it just hangs.

Am I missing something simple here?

My home hum BT (which I replaced with the 2750) did this all for me nice and easily ..

DMZ works, but then it should do ..

Put your start and end port to the same and specify the local port, at the moment the NAT has no idea which port to send it to locally.

thanks, sorry I forgot to say I tried that, tried it again now and still just hangs.

DMZ is about the only way I can get it to work.

I take it you specify port 8000 to view it locally as well, ie if was a http based service http://192.168.1.74:8000

well actually I can just enter 192.168.1.74.

it is always that address. It is a hard ip on the local network. but the DVR is sniffing on port 8000.

So from the outside world I can now, using DMZ, just enter www.myaddress.com and I hit the DVR aok, BUT , of course I would prefer to have NAT working so I do not have to usem DMZ.

the idea being I would prefer to just enter www.myaddress.com:8000 and the 2750 just says hey I know I need to shove this on to 192.168.1.74 ...

maybe I have just missed something. or just maybe the 2750 is a pain in the backside on NAT . I do love the 2750 for its parental control .. works a dream with two young boys. I can handle the DMZ entry shoving any external , non identified traffic straight at the DVR but really it is a hammer to crack a nut ..

Does seem as though the 2750 is good but comes with baggage.
