Just after some advice for using 3G with my Vigor 2830n. In the house where my 2830n is, there is very little 3G signal, but 30 metres down the garden it is perfect and very fast compared to my home broadband.

What I'm wanting to do is put a 3G receiver down the garden, and wire it back up to the house. Obviously USB wouldn't work over that distance, but perhaps I could have a cheap netgear 3G router in the shed down there with ethernet back up to the RJ45 WAN port on my Draytek? Or use powerline as I'll need power for a 3G router anyway.

Any thoughts? Would this work?

Cheers.

I have seen powered USB extensions that claim to extend the USB distance. Maplins I think had some.

My concern would be creating a nice long aerial that would act as a lightning conductor into your router.

Perhaps link it into a Wireless Access Point?
