Having issues creating a managment\iscsi network using VLANs with vigor 2850n

Original Setup:
Small network, 2 unmanged switches (upinked) & 1 AD Server - all on 192.168.1.x, vigor 2850n router

The plan is (was!) to use Vigor 2850, to create vlan2 on port3, with 10.0.0.x and use the "inter lan routing" tick box to bridge\trunk the two vlans.

Vlan1 being the original network 192.168.1.x assigned on ports 1&2

(Both vlans untagged)

When I do this and connect up, the whole network falls flat on its back as though I've created a loop,

I appreciate I've got the same switch connected to both vlans, but surely the vigor should only be bridging genuine inter lan requests, not eveything?

Fear I'm missing the obvious here (hope not!)

Any assistance appreciated

Kind Regards,

James.

The switches need to be VLAN aware.
You cant just create the VLANs on the 2850.
The switch will be running on the default VLAN so you need to create the new VLAN on there as well.
Untagg the ports that you want to be in default VLAN (best practise is that shouldn't really use) that you want to be on VLAN1
Untagg the ports on VLAN2 that you want in VLAN2
The tagged ports will be the ones that link the router to switch

Enable inter VLAN routing or create a filter policy to allow the 2 to see each other
