Public IP Subnets on Lan Ports was created by dave32
Hi,

We currently have a fiber leased line into our building which connects to a Draytek 2830 (Wan2)

we have a /27 (32 Public IP Addresses)

We have then split these up into smaller subnets

LAN 2 - /28 (16 IP Addresses)
LAN 3 - /30 (4 IP Addresses)
LAN 4 - /29 (8 IP Addresses)

in a standard 2830 setup, all the LAN ports act as a 4 port switch, what i now want to do is change the setup to below

LAN 2 - /28 (16 IP Addresses)
LAN 3 - /28 (16 IP Addresses)
LAN 4 - Switch port for Lan3

i doubt this can be done, and the only way i can connect another device to get an IP from the subnet of Lan 3 would be to put a switch in the middle.

please can you confirm?

I have bnever done it but what you are doing should be possible if you do them as VLANs.
Just make sure the other LANs are not ticked against that network, you could then set up DHCP on LAN 3 for anything that is plugged into LAN4 or just give static addresses.

I hope I have got his write
One thing I am not sure though is that you are not going to be using the /29 address from LAN 4 as ports 3 and 4 will be on LAN 3??? Or do I have the wrong end of the stick completely?
