2760 (on Zen fibre) Wake up over internet was created by johnhwhite
Just replaced 2710 with 2760. Working well with Zen fibre (need to set VLAN encapsulation and VLAN ID = 101 in WAN DSL profile), after firmware upgrade.
Had 2710 set up to wake up 2 specific PCs over the internet. As yet cannot get this working with 2760.
Been in touch with technical support over the last 10 days but the response has been hopeless. Have asked for set up instructions and where to find a manual but these requests have not even been acknowledged.
I found a manual on the Polish website (in English) but this was for the original firmware version and there have been many changes (no WOL settings at all).
Here is what I have set up -
In Network > LAN > Ethernet, set IP DHCP Binding for the two PCs.
In Network > NAT > Virtual Host, defined a specific Open Port for each PC IP address.
(these settings are equivalent to the 2710 settings)
In Applications > Wake on LAN, made a MAC address entry for each PC.
RESULT -
Broadcast a magic packet locally - designated PC wakes up.
Send a magic packet over the internet - designated PC wakes up, IF within a few minutes of PC shut-down.
Send a magic packet over the internet - no response if sent later, when PC entry has disappeared from ARP Cache table.
It seems that, in spite of the binding and WOL entries, the router just looks at the ARP Cache and, if there is no entry, it can't route the packet.
Anybody solved this one, or know where to find a current manual?
