Wondering if anyone can help.

My broadband has changed over to sky so I have bought a Vigor 120 to go with my time capsule. The issue is that in the stats it connects at 20mb however only does a speedtest with results of 5mb.

I borrowed a netgear dm111p and configured it, I get a 20mb connection to the exchange and 16.5mb speedtest.

I try the sky router and I get 20mb connection and 16.5mb speedtest.

I have tried the vigor connected to the time capsule and with the vigor connected to my laptop and I always get the 5mb speedtest.

It is up to date with the firmware and I can not see any other setup issues with it.

Would appreciate anyone's help if they have any suggestions on what to do.

For now I have configured the sky router with their dhcp, wifi off and given my time capsule a static 192 address and placing it in the dmz of the sky router. Ideally I would love to use my vigor but I do not want to take a 10mb hit on download speeds.

the only i can think is to connect it via pc to see its stats page and set manually the correct parameters just in the case is been done automatic
depending if you have the V1 or V2 (can see under the modem at the label- if is v2 will state) can try some different modem codes

The VPI/VCI looks right for sky (0/38)

Speedtest was last showing:

Ping: 35
Download: 6.12
Upload: 1.09

Upload and ping are comparable to what I am getting via sky router it is just the download is about 10mb less.

I have tried a few alternative codes but no improvements yet (from the ones I have gone through)

can you change the cable from the 120 (the only lan port) going to the router?
there are cat5e rj45 cables straight and crossover, will be possible to try both?

perhaps and the one going from the phone socket to the 120 will be good idea
