I have installed a 2860N router in place of the standard Talk-talk home router. I am getting drops and today I had to plug the old talktalk router in the get the ADSL up??????

MTU: 1492
DNS settings: Set as automatic (or similar)
Protocol is PPPOA
Encapsulation:g VC-MUX
Modulation Type: Multitude

I think the MTU is wrong and should 1432 not 1492 but I thought Id show you all the settings before I change them.

So why am I getting drops?

change the mtu to 1432,
disable upnp, that has solved for most users the drop issues (Applications >> UPnP)
set manually adsl2 to see if is better,
change the modem code wan>general setup
there is a new beta firmware if helps http://www.forum.draytek.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=19313&start=80#p80330
or roll back firmware ftp://ftp.draytek.com/Vigor2860/

dsl modem codes I have are AnnexA_560816_552011 and AnnexA_548006_544401
Which one?

test both of them if will make any difference... it depending each line

Right I've set the modem code to AnnexA_560816_552011 and we will see.
I am going to update the firmware too.
I've also change the service option from auto to ADSL.

ADSL Status moves between READY and TRAINING

If I plug the RJ11 into the talktalk router and leave it 2mins and then back to the Draytek, the ADSL moves to READY and the internet comes up.
