2830 + AP800 was created by diveǃdiveǃ
Hi
I have a 2830 that has been installed for a while, works perfectly. Its in my office.
In my living room I have a sky box, tv, BD player, all which need a wired Ethernet connection. I'd like to use the AP800 to connect these media devices to my 2830 through the AP800 wirelessly (I cannot run a cable between the 2830 and AP800)
I have struggled to get this to work. I realise the 2830 does not support WDS which is a pity as that would seem to be perfect.
I'd really I'd like the AP800 to function as a repeater as well but would settle to be able to use it to bridge the media system to the router.
How do I do this ?
Thanks
Steve

the 2830 it does support WDS (latest firmware 3.6.7.2) at Wireless LAN >> WDS Settings, i am not sure if WDS needs to be wired to work because i never tried

To set the AP with out wire (with out WDS) just use the universal mode, then at LAN >> General Setup, disable DHCP Server Configuration or set an ip range at the 2830 such 192.168.1.10 / 100 and at the ap800 192.168.1.110 / 200
About setting media via the AP 800 have not any experience but how about if you wire the skybox with the ap800 if work?

Here a normal guide with universal mode

Thanks. First time I tried universal mode I could not get the wired links to work. Just reset and done it over and all seems to work fine - the AP800 is acting as a wireless extender/repeater (I can get wifi in the garden now :-) ), and the LAN A ports seems to be working for the sky box and TV.
Good to know the latest firmware supports WDS though.

Good all working
wds was long time supported but forgot to say if you have the normal 2830 (the version with out wifi) then wds may not appear because it is a wireless feature, so the with the 2830 with out wifi may not supported indeed, with any firmware

Careful to load the correct firmware

Latest is at main Taiwan

If you have not update for long time it needs the *RST* file extention & manually the settings from the begin, not use of back up file
