2830 Throughput was created by jnewgas
On of my users ( local charity ) has upgraded to 80/20 Fibre. They have got the standard BT modem. Tests by BT and the ISP show 79.9 down and 19.8 mbps up - the cabinet is a few yards from their front door.

With a Vigor 2830Vn router we can't get much above 38 down and 7.9 upload when we test - What is the throughput limit on a Vigor 2830n ? I am not sure whether it needs replacement or if there is another problem. All network adaptors are Gigabit with Cat 6 cable.

Thanks

John

is this test with wifi or ethernet cable? mention cat6 must be wired but just to make sure
the 2820 has 50 mbps
the 2830 throughput is 90 mbps but was clocking 105 (all the speed) when had VM 100mbps

The test was done with Ethernet cable - initially BTModem<>Vigor 2830<>GS716 Netgear Switch<>PC and then when it was slow with BTModem<>Vigor 2830<> My Laptop

I had thought the 2830 could cope with 80 mbps and was surprised when it didn't. One odd thing is that on the WAN socket on Draytek only the data light comes on, there doesn't appear to be a second LED showing 100 mbps. I've already done a cable swap from the BT modem to Vigor in case it was a damaged cable.

The WAN configuration for the 2830 correctly shows Ethernet 100m Full Duplex, there is no speed limitation set in the 2830

If the 2830 can cope with 80+ mbps, then I'll try swapping in an old 2820 and a different BT modem to try and isolate the problem

it should do & especially my 2830 i got it from ebay
, was getting 105 mb with Virgin
try the following steps direct to the laptop

Perhaps resetting the modem may help
Disable any other active / enable wan if is not in use (usually wan 1 is enable by default), that may slow down the cpu
wan>general setup > auto navigate or try any other combination
wan > internet access >ARP detect always on
Set MTU to 1492 or 1500 if lets you
TRY another ethernet LAN port from the 2830 to the laptop
Make sure QoS is inactive (for testing)
Same DoS (disable temporary)
same bandwidth management is not enable
Disable firewall for testing (but i don't think this is the issue)

maybe try another modem code, usually the STD is good .. even the modem code is only responsible for the adsl part, perhaps a conflict with the current modem code & firmware

Get latest firmware using the *rst* file extension for a fresh install
3.6.7.2 is the latest for the singla band model & 3.6.7.1 for the dual band
