Hi,

I have a DrayTek Vigor 2830 set up but am only getting:-

ADSL Status Mode State Up Speed Down Speed SNR Margin Loop Att.
G.DMT SHOWTIME 1152000 8128000 13 14

I have checked and my line is provisioned on ADSL2+ and there are no restrictions on the line due to poor connectivity.

A down speed of 8128000 is the maximum for ADSL but obviously not ADSL2+.

Do I have to change a setting on the router to enable ADSL2+ or does the router figure out the best connection speed and type based on the line?

Please help, poor speeds are driving me mad and there seems no real reason for it :(

The draytek by default settings is set to auto ... i can see your snr margin is little high so maybe has change modulation to g.dmt of that reason
go at wan > internet access and change manually the modulation to G.992.5 adsl2+ and see if is better

Wow, you're a genius - I have been trying to solve this for a week!!:-

ADSL Status Mode State Up Speed Down Speed SNR Margin Loop Att.
ADSL2+(G.992.5) SHOWTIME 1215947 19480357 6 18

Seems a lot better!

However, when I do a speed test through BT Wholesale performance test I get 6.69Mbps download and 1.04Mbps upload with a 34.38 ping latency.

Does that still seem slow? I would expect for where I live to get a download of 12Mbps. However, on the BT Wholesale further diagnostics page it says, 6.69Mbps out of a maximum achievable speed of 7.15Mbps:-

Download speed achieved during the test was - 6.69 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 2 Mbps-7.15 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 7.17 Mbps

I guess the speed won't get any faster unless I upgrade to fibre?!

the line seems unstable, once was snr 13 (it seems is gone up due to high noise),& now after resynchronization is 6, somewhere is detecting noise and perhaps has lower your profile
the downspeed is 19 now, due to overhead i would expect 16-17
Are you trying with wifi the speed test? the modem it synchronise fine really

note: you need to try speed test with ethernet cable from one lan of the 2830 to the pc/laptop & not test via wifi or mobile

Thank you :)

All is fine now, my speed is 18Mbps! The ISP had to alter something at their end and this time it seemed to work!

Again, thanks for your help!
