AP900 Speed test was created by eskdale
Does anyone understand what the speed test is testing?

I plugged the AP900 into a 1Gb switch and connected to it via a PC connected to the same switch at 1Gb
Logged into the AP900 from the wired PC
I get the following result Download 111.93Mbps (111%) and Upload 24.8Mbps (24%)

So what did it try to do - It wasn't using Wifi - What did it upload and download from where?

Jon

i think is theoretical feature for its wifi & will allow you to find the best position fro perhaps placing it around the house to give you the best wireless performance.

The diagnostic “Speed Test” feature will allow you to find the best position to install the VigorAP 800/900 to give you the best wireless performance.

babie3g is right, you can more it around and see what sort of signal you get

Welcome to VigorAP900 Speed Test.

This test allows you to find out the best place for VigorAP900. You can execute the speed test at different places of the building and select the best location for it. The performance test result is only for your reference.

Thanks both - but what I was asking is what is it doing to come up with the results.
In the first post the image is what I got when I did the test connected to the AP900 from a PC on the wired network.

I wouldn't have expected it to work in this situation or if it did then for it to be a very fast result. But neither of these were true

What does it test transfer from where to where?

i guess it should transfer from where the router is placed - to your pc (wireless network card) or whatever device you are browsing right now
Unless is a demo and is truly activated if you really use the wifi connected with the ap
