Vigor 2800G Unable to connect was created by molsen123
Hi All
I have acquired an old router which was previously used in a small office which has since been upgraded. The modem actually works fine, but the password is some 50 characters long and I want to change it to something simpler.
I have the modem connected, via the domestic electrical circuit, to a main router connected to the outside world and supplied by Plusnet. I have installed the firmware via the draytek website, but when I follow the instructions to connect to the router, by typing inhttp://192.168.1.1 , nothing is found. When I try to connect via the firmware, this fails also. I am using a pc with Windows 7 Home Premium.
Can anyone help?
Thanks
Mark

if the 2800 is behind another router then you may not have access to it
connect it directly to a pc and try again

Thanks Babis. Yes, I tried the direct route and unplugged the connection to the other router, but still got the same result?

what are flashing lights at the modem?
Have you also checked the network card of the pc (ip & dhcp) if are all to automatic?
network & sharing centre>change adapter settings>local area connection>properties>tcp/ipv4?

I've installed the tcp/ipv4 configuration to automatically connect, but windows tells me that the local area connection does not have a valid ip configuration? Im clearly not doing something right! I appreciate your help so far, I know its only a few clicks away......
