Asus DSL-AC68U with Vigor 120 modem setup help

Invested in a new Asus DSL-AC68U. I can connect to Sky Broadband DSL, using the settings for former o2 customers and establish a PPPoA connection. Tending to lose synch after a day with a lot of CRC errors. I believe this is a known issue with the modem I the ASUS router.

I've bought a new Draytek Vigor 120 modem to see if the standalone modem works better. There is an option for ethernet wan in the Asus so that I can just be used as a router. I do remember having to change the settings on the modem to work with o2 but don't know if this remains the case for customers transferred over to Sky.

Having no luck at all with the connection settings. I believe I'm supposed to leave the Vigor 120 with its out of the box settings and try and set up the Ethernet wan connection in the Asus as a PPPoE connection with "install@o2broadband.co.uk" as my username etc

Or should one of the devices be set up in bridged mode?

An idiot's guide would be appreciated.

for the asos use latest beta and give one go by disable everything in the dsl settings page & just enable annex A, adsl2+ & Vector options (disable all the others features such bit swap, sra etc)
with just them 3 options it works good for my adsl (not mer)

the latest firmware for the 120 v2 version is here
http://www.draytek.com/index.php?option=com_k2&view=item&layout=item&id=2405&Itemid=451&lang=en#downloads
has some sky mer options added & also some fix with pppoe
Support "Mac Encapsulated Routing (MER)".
Use the modem code 344001 has better downstream rates for me & use the rst* file extension for a clean instal

if you search here in the forum you may find how to set it with sky
also have a look here

Thanks very much for taking the time to reply.

I do have the latest Asus beta and the settings you suggest. Will try everything else that you suggest at the weekend and report back.

What still confuses me is what settings to input on the Asus eg presume I leave the Vigor modem on its default setting for a PPPoA connection and setup the Asus using the PPPoE option, as I understand the Vigor bridges the two types.

Sorry not sure about the parameters with your isp ... but at sky forums the other guys should be able to tell you what are the correct ones for ex-o2 customers
However my UK vigor 120 v2 only is set at pppoe pass through automatic (bridged and will not let me change it)
Are you sure you have the V2 or the correct firmware? Unless the newer models of V2 allow full access to the menus now

At asus enable dual wan option & choice the ethernet wan port (1-4) where will connect the 120
at internet connection tab set it with pppoe (if the vigor 120 is at bridge mode) if the asus has option pppoe pass through give it a go as well
Is chance for me to use my 120 with the dual wan option at asus so i will report very later today if you have not sorted & will make screenshots
