Wifi AP solution was created by nicebloke
Hi there,

I have a Draytek router, Vigor 2710n in an office on the first floor near an outside window. In a barn about 75 yards away (my computer is a further 20 yards from the external wall) the wifi reception is very poor and I would like to improve it. Cabling is not an option. For the wifi, there are no obstacles between the two buildings.

I need to improve the signal but am not certain what material I would need. These are a couple of my ideas:

Add a hi-gain antenna to the 2710n, the ant 1005 for example, but would this be compatible with the router?

Adding an AP 710 and perhaps use it (will I need 2) as a bridge. Are the antennae on this AP more powerful than on the Vigor 2710n?

If you have any ideas or best solutions on what I need to buy I would much appreciate it.
