Link aggregation between Vigor 2860 and Vigor P2261? was created by eveares
I currently have a Vigor 2860 along with a Vigor AP-902. I am planning to get the Vigor P2261 PoE switch in a few months and know that it supports 802.3ad link aggregation.
Now if I am correct, my Vigor 2860 does not support link aggregation. Does this mean that I can't perform link aggregation/link redundancy between the 2860 and the P2261?
If I had my NAS box (What also supports 802.3ad link aggregation) plugged into the P2261 with 802.3ad enabled, and had two further clients plugged into the P2261 with a 1Gbps connection each pulling data from my NAS; would the theoretical 2Gbps between my NAS box and the P2261 have to be routed through the Vigor 2860 or would the 2860 not come into play.
Trying to work out if you need a router what supports 802.3ad link aggregation for the 802.3ad link aggregation on the P2261 to be of any use.
Also how about link redundancy between the 2860 and the P2261?
Regards: Elliott.

The 2860 won't come into play in your configuration.
Code:
Client 1 <---> switch
Client 2 <---> switch
switch <---> NAS nic 1
switch <---> NAS nic 2
switch <---> 2860
2860 <---> internet

So the traffic (SMB,CIFS,NFS based) between the clients and my NAS would not have to be routed through my Router First.
i.e. So it won't flow like this:

No, if the clients and nas are all connected to the switch then internal traffic wouldn't reach the router for NAS access.
