Hiya,

I have a new BT Infinity connection and previously I had my Linksys router set up for the home network so I'm trying to maintain that by putting a Vigor 130 in as the modem instead of the BT Smarthub that I've been supplied.

However, the modem thinks it is connecting to the outside world but I can't get the router to see the internet.

I've tried leaving the modem in the factory setting and the LAN & DSL light are both solid (not sure the LAN light should be flashing).
I've also tried setting it up in bridge mode.

The router is just flashing and searching but not seeing the outside world.

The router is in PPoE with the stadard BT Username and password. I have also validated the router setup with Linksys.

Does anyone have any thoughts? The Smart hub connects so there is something to connect to... I just can't do it :)

Any help would be awesome.

Thanks.

The DSL light should be solid, LAN flickers with traffic, the ACT light should be pulsing on/off.

I would check the DSL lead is connected properly , try another lead between modem and BT Master socket then try factory resetting the modem ( hidden button at rear).

If the lights are still solid the modem is faulty.

Hi Sorry - thanks for your time. It's my fault for not being clear.

On the modem,
The DSL light is solid.
The LAN light is solid too... this is the one I thought should be flickering.

I have tried from factory settings and also in bridge mode.

I'm sure it's something simple... just not sure what :?

1. If there's a Service Name or PPPoE Service Name field on the Linksys router, clear that, the V130 doesn't need a service name specified

2. Make sure the VLAN tag 101 needed for the Openreach network is configured only on the Vigor 130, which it is by default. The Linksys doesn't need to specify a VLAN tag if the Vigor 130 does (or vice versa)

It may have taken BT 76 days to activate the broadband but finally for the first time since the 12th May, my home is connected again!!!!
