Hi, One of our office will be upgrading to a 1GB/1GB leased line, so out go the old 2860 because of the speed limit.

I am looking at the 2962 , the docs on this is not very self explaining so I have some quick questions.

1. Will it cope with the new speed of 1GB/1GB up/down ?
2. It is advertised as a Firewall Router, is the Firewall any good on this ? This is for a small office of about 10-15 users and 2x2016 Servers, all WKS are Win10 and all have AVG Inernet Security (inc Firewall)

I have been using Draytek for many years and I love the features so if possible I would love to stick with Draytek products.

Yes the 2962 should handle 1 Gb/s up / down with no problem. It has only one 2.5 Gb/s port - so cannot handle more than 1 Gb/s to a single device. I am surprised it didn't have 2 x 2.5 Gb/s ports. I guess pushes more people to the 3910

Thanks, that should solve the speed demand, but how good is the firewall ? Just need something stable and powerful enough for a small office.

What do you want from the firewall? Layer-4 only? UTM? IPS? Reverse Proxy? WAF?

I'm confused: in the title you mention 2862 and in the main body, 2962, which are two different products.

2862 was replaced with 2865 and 2866. 2862 is *likely* to use an older Intel/Lantiq chipset, while the 2862 and 2866 a newer one. So, probably best to check this out, as I have read this makes a difference in the way the connection is handled, especially in relation to Broadcom-based cabinets.

Apology for the title confusion, I am looking to replace the old 2860 with the 2962 to go with the 1Gb line, I already have two 2862 but really looking at the 2962 as a new replacement.

For the firewall, looking for basic hack/ping proof solution, something that will stand up well against hackers ,safe and reliable enough not having it breakdown regularly, just the usual office protection against your daily hack/ddos type of attacks.
