2766AX VDSL2 disconnects was created by robf
Hi
I'm hoping someone can help me as I'm at wits end with the 2766ax I purchased.
I'm running 4.4.3 BT firmware on a BT VDSL2 line.
In the early hours, the router disconnects (not reboot) resulting in the downstream reducing each time. Initially, I thought it was an issue with the line and got Openreach to check - they assured me there was nothing wrong with the connection.
Many thanks in advance
Rob

Hopefully, this will be useful to some in the future ....
Draytek support has suggested using ping detection on WAN:
Set WAN connection detection to Ping Detect using the Google DNS, 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. You will find this in WAN -> Internet Access -> WAN 1 Details Page

I'll report back as to if this helped at all.

I had three days of no problems and overnight something caused the DSL connection to drop. The DLM didn't like this and I've lost another 2mb/s on my downstream.
We've had very wet and windy weather here, I suspect something is shorting out between the house and the cabinet.

This does sound like DLM style behaviour... unless there is something nearby generating a lot of electrical interference at night. Do you have another router/modem you could pop into Bridge mode between the Draytek and the incoming socket to see if that restores stability (no line drops and sync increases).
That might help to point to being a Drattek/chipset/line issue or something else. Oddly though, normally BT are quite good at detecting faults on lines - no crackles or anything if you listen with a handset?

I was thinking of using the homehub as a modem! I might give that a try after Christmas.
Thanks for the tip
Have a great Christmas all!
