No, I hadn't thought of disabling my end. Thank you - A very useful idea!
I'm still waiting for their IT guy to contact me. I'm sure they will wake up when they need support!
With you advice just now I'm quite comfortable with getting the link running and it can be secured via LAN2 later.

But didn’t you want to prepare everything at your end, like creating the second LAN?

I did actually do that and was looking to find time to use a friendly clients Draytek to set up the VPN connection from the far end.
They just today I had an issue with my phones, they re-booted and could not obtain an IP. I suspected it was connected with the Lan2 so I have turned it off. I will try to get back to it soon.
By the way, which protocol would you suggest I use? SSL? IPSec?

I always use IPSec. ‘IKEv2 IPsec’ with ‘AES-SHA256 Auth’ for all my LAN-to-LANs.
I have used IPSec for years and years and never had a problem, or been compromised. I have one network consisting of seven LAN-to-LAN connected sites.

I had raised this query as one of my clients had changed their set up which required my use of this VPN.
That change has now been rolled back, so as of now the VPN is not required - so this thread goes to sleep.....
Thanks for the posts till now - all useful info.
