2866ax and Hyperoptic fibre was created by David
Hi all,

I’m having a problem with a Vigor 2866ax and Hyperoptic FTTP Fibre broadband.
I have the connection working and internet access.
However, the connection from the Hyperoptic OTN wall plate and the WAN 2 port on the 2866 only connects at 100mb.
I’ve tried a few cables, Cat5e and Cat6 but none connect at the full 1gb connection.

Also tried plugging in cables to the LAN ports on the Hyperoptic Nokia Router to the Vigor WAN port.
Again I can get internet access but still only 100mb physical connection.
The actual broadband is for 500mb which may be upgraded to Hyperoptic’s 1gb speed.

Anyone encountered a similar problem or any suggestions?

Many thanks,
Dave,

On the assumption that a device connected (by an Ethernet cable) to Hyperoptic's supplied Nokia gives you something approacing the service speed and the same cable then moved to the WAN 2 on your 2866ax only does aroud 94Mb/s I would say that the WAN2/P6 on the 2866ax is faulty.

For some reason the speed negotiation may have failed, it's worth checking that in WAN >> General Setup it says Auto negotiation. That SHOULD work.

Failing that, trying setting "Physical Type (Ethernet)" to 1000M full duplex would be worth a go.

If Hyperoptic's Nokia will tell you what speed the LAN port you tried the 2866ax connected to negotiated that would also be a clue. Forcing that (if possible) to 1000Mb/s ful duplex (along with the Draytek) is another worthwhile experiment.

A complete factory reset (save your config on the 2866ax first if it's complex) is also worth a go.

Assuming you don't need it turn off WAN1 (the VDSL connection) as well when you setup from scratch.
