How to backup your current firmware was created by lorian
This might be usefull when you want to upgrade, but don't have a copy of your current firmware. Could also be used to automate backing up settings files
First of all tick "enable remote firmware upgrade (FTP)" in the GUI Management screen.
Then do the follwing:
C:\Firmware\Vigor_2700\2621_UK>ftp 192.168.1.1 <--- your router
Enter username (blank) and your password
ftp> type binary
ftp> prompt
ftp> mget *
ftp> quit
You should then have a copy of the running firmware and .cfg in you local directory

i find it slightly worrying that the .cfg file contains unencrypted passwords. although i can't imagine many circumstances where this would prove a security loophole.

Well I can see the router admin password in mine in plain text. Doesn't worry me too much, I don't plan on mailing it to anyone.
