Hi,
I am trying to understand the way that VLAN's are configured when a Vigour G1080 switch is connected to a Vigour 2926 Router. My issue was that I had run out of ports on my router so I purchased a small G1080 switch to extend my VLAN capability.
Router ports used are
P1 - Connection from router to G1080
P2 - VLAN for goods in
P3 - VLAN for WiFi in office
P4 - CCTV
WAN - Converted to port for another VLAN
G1080 Switch ports used are
P1 - Internet supply
P2 - Connection to router
P3 to P7 currently unused
P8 - I want to use for new Vlan
Some of the things I understand are that the 2926 can manage the switch by adding to central management, which I have done. I assume then that you setup the VLAN by going to LAN setup on the the router & creating a new LAN6 with IP range, subnet etc. I have then assigned that to port 1 on the router as this is the port connecting to G1080 switch.
I am a little confused at this stage on how to allocate this to port 8 on G1080 switch & segregate as I want to put another DHCP server on this VLAN. I also want to allow internet access if possible.
Any pointers on this setup will be greatly appreciated.
