2820n keeps dropping VPN tunnel was created by itg
Hi,
We have recently started using the Draytek 2820n and using them to link sites via a VPN tunnel, however we have one site that keeps loosing the connection, when we remote on and check - both sites are accessible (so there broadband connection is up and working) and they both have internet access, so DNS would seem to be in order.
However the site to site link is not working and no traffic is routing via the VPN tunnel, checking the status of the VPN tunnel at both sites shows the connection to be up, but no link is available.
If you 'Drop' the connection from the router console "VPN and remote Access\Connection Management", then reboot the users pc at the remote site it all starts working again, this connection can be up for days at a time, or only minutes.
Can anyone offer any advice on what we should be looking at, we have worked with hardware firewalls and vpn tunnels for many years but this one has us beat?
Here is the config:
VPN Connection Status
VPN Type Remote IP Virtual Network Tx Pkts Tx Rate(Bps) Rx Pkts Rx Rate(Bps) UpTime 1
( Halesowenn ) IPSec Tunnel 3DES-SHA1 Auth xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
via WAN1 xxx.xxx.xxx.0/24 23503 446 23111 720 0:20:43
xxxxxxxx : Data is encrypted.
xxxxxxxx : Data isn't encrypted.
Regards

I think there have been a few posts on the forum about this. If you raise a ticket with DrayTek support I think they have a (beta?) firmware that improves all things VPN. Regards, Neal
