AP700 / AP800 with PoE help required please! was created by davidtindall
Hello,
i need some help from all you Draytek users out there please
We wish to install wireless around some student accomodation over 1 floor.
We have a Drayte 2920 as the main route connected to DSL. Into that we have a PoE switch. This is going to be used to power some Draytek AP 800's. We are powering the AP800's via PoE as there are no power sockets in the hall outside the student rooms.
We wish to have 1 x wireless network name for ALL the students to connect to no matter which access point they are connected to.
Remember each wireless access point has a network cable going back to the Draytek 2920.
What is the best way to achieve what we need to do? What mode should we set the access points to?
Thanks!
David

Try WDS - but for a proper bullet proof system distributed across a wide area you may need a proper wireless controller. Where by the APs are "dumb" and the controller does the work. Netgear do a neat system.
