2820n - wireless LAN broken (again) was created by oxygendebt
Has anyone else had repeated problems with the wireless chip on their 2820n?
Mine stopped working suddenly in September 2010 and was repaired under warranty. It's just today failed again with exactly the same symptoms. All wired devices, ADSL etc are fine; it's just the wireless devices (AP-700, mobiles, laptop) that won't connect.
My unit is still under warranty so it will go back to SEG on Tuesday.
Am just 'annoyed' that such a top range router can have components repeatedly fail.
Any other experiences?

Is the unit subject to any vibration? The wireless module can come loose if vibrated.

No, not at all. It sits on a shelf next to a NAS box and switch.

Replied by grahman on topic 2820Vn Wireless problems
Have recently bought two units for a home office and remote location.
Everything worked fine for about 2 weeks, then my Macbook Pro and iPhone4 reported that they needed WEP pass codes and not the WPA Personal codes I had set up and had been using.
I have checked and rechecked the settings of the Wireless security on the one active SSID, including reloading the old config file that worked previously, rebooted everything many times.
Odd that Windows PC's can still see the WPA configuration though. Reverted to the old router and the Apple devices were fine, but when I went back to the 2820 same problem.
This leads me to suspect the 2820 router as the cause, and note problems others have had.
Update - 19/1/11 - Problem resolved.
Caused by a 3Com Wireless Repeater (connected through LAN) remaining active but not properly configured for the new 2820. Switching this off resolved the problem, but now I am looking at ways to connect it back in to extend range. Have a Vigor AP700 on order though so will probably wait until this arrives.
SEG sent me some useful information though onhttp://www.draytek.co.uk/support/router_faq.html .
Worth a look as it simplifies User Guide
