Vigor 2820 and Samsung Series 8 TV was created by peterhurn
Hi,
Has anyone managed to get their Samsung series 8 TV connecting wireless to their Vigor 2820, it seemed to work with the initial TV firmware 1011 but Samsung seems to have had issues with Netgear and other manufacture types of routers and released a large number of firmware updates over the last week or two, I am now on 1016 and the TV can see the router but not connect to the internet.
To be honest I think it's a Samsung software issue as everything else I have has no problems at all connecting wirelessly and through to the internet.
Peter.

Hello Peter,

I have also had problems with my parents Samsung Smart TV, the UE40ES6710U to be exact. Now as things are more simple for them, I don't have a Draytek in place, just a Netgear DG834Gv3 which serves all other requirements fine.

The TV was connected as a wireless client to the Wireless Network, and this worked well. Foolishly the other week, I thought I'd better see if there is a Firmware update for the TV, and get the channels rescaned to pick up the additional Olympic channels. Big mistake. The TV now fails to connect wirelessly. I have gone through the frustrating "Wizzard" which is so poorly worded, and fails for whatever reason. Every other wireless device is problem free.

Samsung now only have the latest 1023 firmware online, so it doesn't look as if I can roll back to the previously all-right firmware.

So, in short, I think the TV could be at fault, and not the Draytek Vigor 2820.

Best regards, Neal

Thanks Neal,

I agree the Draytek seems fine, and initially mine worked with no issue reported with the earlier TV firmware, the "upgraded" firmware does seem to be the issue.
I spoke to Samsung and they mentioned they had some problems with people using Netgear and Virgin router equipment initially, so it seems the firmware was changed to fix those issue possibly at the expense of the perhaps lesser known but more reliable equipment.
I mentioned the router I was using and Samsung sounded surprised so I would urge anyone with problems to contact Samsung.
A Samsung product specialist is supposed to be contacting me to discuss the issue, I will let you know how this goes.

Regards,

Peter.

Tested wired and wifi access last night with Samsung on the phone and they have agreed they suspect it's a software (firmware) issue with the TV.

Wired access seemed fine (via powerplugs).

The issue has now been escalated within Samsung and they should be back in touch shortly, they gave me a code to display a diagnostic screen in the Samsung SmartHub which showed some codes one of which they took and they also confirmed the make and model of my Draytek router.

Thanks Peter,

I may try and also contact Samsung. I did call them a few month ago, but was fobbed off with "We will check and call you back" and I've never had a call. So after this teflon customer service I've been put off.

It is positive to note the have agreed that there is a problem - that's usually most of the battle.
