I'm surprised that I haven't heard of that before, although have performed a similar action to power cycle/recover an SSD. Thanks - I'll give it a go!

i thought they will repair it with a reasonable fee if is out of warranty or not proof of receiptbabis3g wrote:
Well try the 30/30/30 reset then try it again if will help you out
Basically holding the reset button for 1 & half minute then each 30 seconds plug unplug the power cord ... (google search it for more accurate instructions, it works almost with every model make)

I just had a bricked 2860n+, and I found that the tftp method only works on Windows XP using the Draytek Firmware update tool.
No luck with tftp client on Mac / Linux or Windows, nor with the Firmware Update Tool on windows 8.1
Good luck to you!

Interesting - thanks Toby! I'm sure I've got a couple of old XP laptops somewhere, that I can dig out to give this a try.

Sam, I would love to know if you've been successful using XP.

I didn't get round to trying this with XP, but the Draytek firmware tool itself didn't work under Win7Pro. I ended up just buying a new AP700.
