It doesn't encrypt, but if you're using backup software, that can encrypt as it saves. Maybe software which can encrypt virtual drives might work (not sure).

In our experience once you use client side encryption rather than SMB host side you lose the multi-user accesability of the NAS and stored data... and might as well just plug it in to the end users PC... Since the router has an AES engine built in already it might be relatively painless to perform optional sector level encryption... consider it a feature request to add to the wish list :!:

Currently it seems not to work with NTFS disks which is rather restrictive. USB pen drives are ok though. However to be really useful, being able to plug in a 1TB+ disk with NTFS format is a must.

In it's current form it just goes into a reboot cycle with NTFS disks.

Tested an earlier release client and just tested using 3.3.2 RC5 with same result.

My solution to this requirement was to purchase a 1TB Lacie ethernet mini disk as I use the USB for my printer. It has a gigabit port so plugs nicely into the 2820s.
