Hi there

I've been trying that, but 'telnet' is not recognised as a command.

I'm typing: 'telnet 192.168.1.xxx' (no quotes) on Win 7 - admin. account.

Maybe I'm missing something here...

OK, cancel the above - Telnet client was not running in Windows....

Thanks for the commands.

I've just installed a 2710n - first experience with a router. It was a real hassle until I discovered that the Network Adaptor in the Device Manager was disabled (Start, Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device manager) . Then it was OK. At present network is just wired to first PC.

I've read about turning off QoS in this thread, but I'm not sure about the router password mentioned by danfloun. The only passsword I put in was my ISP's. I tried that and it doesn't work.

Had a sudden thought - default password was 'admin'
Works now :)

Just to update this thread;

As of firmware version 3.3.2 for the Vigor 2710, Vigor 2710n & Vigor 2710Vn, the above commands to disable QoS have changed very slightly.

Mode 0 = disables QoS
Mode 1 = enables QoS for inbound traffic
Mode 2 = enables QoS for outbound traffic

So to disable QoS, enter these commands;

Code:
qos setup -m 0 sys commit sys reboot

I haven't tested whether it's necessary, but I also enter the commands below, just to make sure upload and download are at maximum transmission.

Code:
adsl txpct 100 adsl rxpct 100 adsl reboot

Thanks

Shame QoS settings not available in router interface (should be disabled anyway on non-voip routers
