Static IP block was created by theno23
Hi all,

I have a 2920n setup, running on Zen's FTTC, with a block of 8 static addresses.

Sorry, this is probably a dumb question, but how do I get the routing and so on setup to assign the other static addresses to machines on the LAN? I have a VoIP phone, a server, and a laptop I'd like to get static addresses, everything else on NAT/local addresses.

Cheers,
Steve

Hi,

Im having problems configuring the same thing on my new 2820n using an 8 IP block from PlusNet on FTTC. I found the link provided but Im still having no luck and would be grateful of advice.

My IP block is xx.xx.215.152 - xx.xx.215.159 with a mask of 255.255.255.248.

So from my understanding,

WAN2 has obtained an IP address of xx.xx.215.153 - the first usable IP address

In the LAN webscreens, Ive configured

10.0.0.1 / 255.255.255.0 as the first IP range
Enabled "For IP Routing Usage"
Set 2nd IP Address as xx.xx.215.154 - the second usable IP address

Ive then set my PC Wifi to be

xx.xx.215.55 / 255.255.255.248 with a gateway of xx.xx.215.154.

But when I do this, I cant surf the internet or even ping either xx.xx.215.154 or xx.xx.215.153.

Please help!

Thanks

Tim

2nd IP Address should be xx.xx.215.153 i.e. the address of the router.

Then your PCs on public IPs could be xx.xx.215.154 to .158 with mask of 255.255.255.248 and default gateway of xx.xx.215.153

I'm on Plusnet FTTC with a 2130n and this setting works for me :D

Hi,

Thanks for the reply - I think we exchanged messages on the Plusnet forums the other day about the same topic - although before I treated myself to the Draytek!

Late last night, I did find that using the .153 on the LAN2 seemed to work. I have also exchanged emails with Draytek support this morning who confirmed that everything seemed to be configured OK - having logged on remotely (great service!). They didnt seem to think it was entirely normal for the LAN2 address to be the same as the WAN2 - but as you say (if Ive understood correctly) it seems to work...
