Just ordered FTTC from Zen and since the 2600G has done me proud for the last 9+ years I'm sticking with Draytek.

Done a bit of background research with the hardware but wondered if anyone had experience of both the 2750 / 2850 series as a comparison? I don't need VPN, I need port forwarding and I'm sticking to NAT as opposed to static IPs. Guest WiFi not critical but would be a nice bonus. That's about it really, nothing bonkers complicated about my needs (the wife would argue with that).

In your opinion, is the 2850n worth the £50 (ish) hike over the 2750n given the above basic criteria?

my opinion is that the 2850 will be helpfull for you if have 2 internet connections
also at the Draytek UK saying the 2850 it supports up to 50mb fibre connection so for this reason i have rang the sales @ SEG and they told me it has not been test with the 80/20 product
but the vdls settings it supports (in the 2850) up to 30a profile so it should be ok because i think is the same build in, vdls in both

i have my 2850n with adsl connection & virgin cable and works great
unenforceable my phone line is direct to exchange so no fttc for long time for me to confirm if is ok
i would say if you dont plan to get 2 connections get the 2750 is cheaper and if ever you go back to adsl you can always use your old draytek but that is my opinion for saving some money

What I hadn't considered was that I could use other Draytek units that would work with the openreach modem rather than trying the all in one solution with the 2750 / 2850. To alter the thread slightly then, is it better to have a one-box solution or is it a good idea to keep the openreach modem? With it being Zen, they don't supply the BT homehub, it's just the basic modem and the rest is up to you.

the vigor 2850 has now been tested with the 80/20 (Infinity Option 2) service and works fine.

2850n ordered today, fibre install Friday so I'll have a chance to see how it goes on ADSL for a couple of days.
