Thanks for that, I didn't know there was a testing site - that's very handy!

Admin- What did you do to get it to work fine? I have (posted in another thread) described that I can get 50/10 with the latest firmware and change the connection to use the BT supplied modem and hub and I get 80/20. The BT engineer said the line will support 99Mb/s once (if) BT remove their cap at the DSLAM. But if all I get with the 2850 is 50/10 I'm going to need to replace the hardware.

It's going very badly indeed. Updated firmware to 3.6.2 RC4 (also tried standard 3.6.1 and 3.6.2) but no difference - the connection is lost at random, I can get a few minutes to just a few short hours (I've seen 7 hours but that was a rarity, it's usually 1, 2 or 3 hours between reconnections).

You know what I'm about to say next - yes, the BT modem plugged into 4/WAN is rock solid. Something's not right and I'm seeing more and more 2850 problem threads than I'd like. I bought this router because of my trouble-free years with the 2600G on ADSL.

Here's where I'm up to:-
Rang Draytek tech support and they pointed me at the final 3.6.2 release that had been uploaded only the previous day so I figured I'd give that a go ahead of sending it back. Within a few hours it had disconnected and reconnected about 3 times but under the advice of SEG I decided to leave it another 24 hours (it's always on). Came down the next morning and it had stayed connected overnight which was a 9 hour connection: a first.

It's still connected so that's over a day now. Since VDSL was enabled 2 weeks ago, the connection speed has dropped bit by bit, I suspect the problem has been partly BT profiling and partly firmware. I'm not a speed seeker, I'd rather have stability so as long as I get something like the 2600 did on ADSL (weeks at a time) then I'll be happy. My estimate on the line ahead of ordering was only 12.5mbs and at first I saw 19mbs but that went down to 18 then 17 then it's settled at 15. Still that's around 20% better than the estimate. In case you're thinking these speeds are terrible, I'm quite a distance from the cabinet and I'm on aluminium, not copper which again is another factor against me.

Fingers crossed! :)
