This info may be helpful to others with 2800 series routers and Vodafone 3G cards.

I have got the Vodafone E220 modem (a rebadged HUAWEI E220) to work using the following settings:
Modem Initial String: AT&FE0V1X1&D2&C1S0=0 (default)
Modem Dial String: ATDT*99***16#

I have got the Vodafone E270 modem (a rebadged HUAWEI E270) to work using the following settings:
Modem Initial String: ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2
Modem Dial String: ATDT*99***16#

The E270 gives an impressive link speed of 7200000.

Hope this saves someone trawling the Internet for strings that work. :D

Cheers

Clive

Hi all,

Today I received my (unlocked) Hauwei E220 (badged Vodafone) 3G modem, inserted my T-Mobile web'n'walk SIM (contract), hooked it up to my Vigor2800VG and it all worked very well first time. Here are the settings I used in the Internet Access >> 3G USB Modem Backup section of the WUI:

Modem Initial String: APN:general.t-mobile.uk
(enter general.t-mobile.uk in the "APN name" box and click "Apply")
Modem Dial String: ATDT*99#
PPP Username: user
PPP Password: one2one

Link speed comes up as 7200000 in standby.

The Firmware of my is E220 is v11.116.05.02.11 (it's been unlocked and updated to work with Windows Vista)

Hope this helps someone else.

Regards,

Colin

Hi All,

I have today successfully tested a Nokia N70 with a Vigor 2800VG

I connected the N70 to the router usb port using the "phone to usb" cable that came with the N70.

I used the default dial string: ATDT*99#

APN setting: internet

After applying the above settings, I disconnected the ADSL line and the 3G backup kicked in immediately.

You need to request it from Tech support for the Vigor2910.
