Well, it's not so much the sync speed that has been an issue - I'm well past the BT 10 days and have had sync at close to 10 Mb. What is the issue is line noise and a constantly dropping connection. At higher speeds, the SNR is a bit lower so there's less tolerance before the loss of signal causes the sync to drop.

The ADSL2 modulation improves quality. Profile is irritatingly set quite high, it's just that with this 'speed' overall experience is just poor.

Best of luck everyone.

For me, I think it's put up, shut up time.

Any updates on this?

Did you try later firmwares (even beta)?

Did you stick with the 2800 or buy something else?

Just curious after reading someone elses thread.

Well, I'm now running a Thomson supplied by Plusnet. It's quick, stable but lacks the security functionality that I feel should be standard.

Annoyingly, the Thomson needed to have firmware retrograde to allow VPN so it was still a pain to transfer.

I tried 2.8.2 firmware but beta notes said the only improv was wlan for macbook?

I'd probably give it another crack at some point but stable, fast connection is vital - without it, security becomes less relevant.

I now have solid 6.5mbps down, 350-ish up.

Shame, shame.

Did you see Voodles post today in this thread;
http://www.forum.draytek.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=12383
where he mentions beta firmware v 2.8.2.1

Maybe that would help you.

i tried 2.8.2.1 yesterday with my 2800 on ADSL2+

still got many dropouts per day.
As i said in the other thread though, setting my modulation to G.DTM is 'so far' stopping any drop outs. if theres no drops in 24hrs, i can say this has stopped them. albeit not the right solution.
