I agree that speedtesting site results can vary. However the tests that I did were within 10 mins of each other. I did multiple test. I normally only see less 10% difference between the tests.

I have two wireless access points setup. 802.11n and 802.11g. This gives me increased performance by using only .n devices on the 2880 and slower .b/g devices on a seperate wifi access point. My DHCP is provided via my Billion SSL-VPN S5 appliance. All packets in and out of my network are logged in a central syslog server. All wireless is using WPA2 AES only. I also have a custom firewall filter and a proxy server to control traffic in and out of my network.

When I did the tests I was the only user on the network.

I have been in contact with Draytek UK support. When using different firmware 3.3.4 or 3.3.5_RC2a the speed issues do not occur. The performance issues only appear on 3.3.4.1

The 3.3.5_RC2a Beta that I am running is very good. There are some nice new options.

Regards

John Baker

FWIW the BIND to MAC bug was what I need fixing, havent tested that yet but in all speed tests so far its been consistently good as usual (though never synchs as high as the "Be" router, always about 1Mb less down).

ADSL2+

So far so good...

Bind IP to MAC is certainly working again here :)
Haven't seen any new speed issues though.

Hello again
I did the update last weekend to 3.3.4.1 and have not touched my 2820 since. No problems with wireless hook ups now although my wireless connections are transient (I'm 95% wired) and I don't bind those IPs.

I am just shy of 4km line length from my exchange and usually get about 4.5Mbps downspeed. As this week has gone on, my speeds (both down and up) have actually increased (re-training?). I'm now at 4.824Mbps down and 1.011Mbps up.

I also find that my 2820 always adjusts to use the ADSL2 mode (G.992.3) rather than ADSL2+ (G.992.5). I just set it to Multimode (although in the past I've tried forcing ADSL2+ - no advantage). In fact, I have been told that with the line length that I have, my speeds are reasonable and the extra protocol overhead introduced by the ADSL2+ mode could actually impact adversely on the overall performance. Whether that is true or not, I don't know.

What I do know is that on my other line (same length) I have a Thomson Speedtouch 587v7 hooked up with O2Broadband (Be*) and that routinely syncs well over 5Mbps down and 1.2Mbps up. So, as commented elsewhere and as I have said myself in the past, if they can get those speeds why can't Draytek? BTW - I've tried swapping modems between the two ISPs and the speed differential remains, so it is definitely something to with the actual Draytek hardware (maybe not using Broadcom?) or their firmware or both. However, there are trade offs to be made because of the very rich feature set of the 2820. So overall, can't complain. :D
