Has anyone heard anything back from Draytek regarding the issues experienced with 3.3.4.1?

I was told to send in telnet logs from 3.3.4.1 or to await the fix in the next firmware

After seeing reports to try this firmware with 1442 MTU, i was a bit sceptical, I thought a change in MTU couldnt make a huge difference, anyway heres my results
3.3.4 - always used 1492 MTU and always had 840kbs max speeds
3.3.4.1 - MTU 1492 - max speed now 188kbs
3.3.5 RC2 mtu 1492 - Max speeds 840kbs but it crashed my router twice
So i went back to 3.3.4 and tonight thought i would give 3.3.4.1 a go with smaller MTU.
now back to 3.3.4.1 and set MTU to 1442 and full speeds 840kbs

The latest from Draytek Support on the issue. Looks like new code in the Modem.............
I have sent back information they requested and it indeed matches what they thought.
Thank you for your email.
The different performance may be due to the modem codes are different.
May I confirm what is the modem code you use and where did you download from?
Yes, we have a new modem code 2471201 based on firmware version 3.3.5 which can improve the annexM upload performance.
Maybe this modem code is better than modem code 232201 with your line.

required mtu setting can be different according to your telephone exchange hardware. There are utilities for this if you search around but a
quick way to check the mtu you should be using:
ping -f -l nnnn hostname
(-l is letter l not digit 1)
eg
ping -f -l 1442 google.com
keep increasing number until timeout or cant fragment msg.
From there you can work out if this is indeed a another Draytek bug, or just a default setting error.
Do note that mtu is "maximum transmission unit". Most packets are shorter than this, eg internet browsing, so is not an issue, but speedtests, large file transfers and mmedia streaming/games often use the maximum packet size available so are worst affected.
hth:wink:
3.4.2.2 anybody?
